HOUSTON (November 1, 2017) – The Houston Marathon Committee (HMC) announced on Wednesday that Chevron Corporation has renewed its title sponsorship of the annual Chevron Houston Marathon road race, extending their partnership through 2020. The 2018 Chevron Houston Marathon will be hosted by the HMC in downtown Houston on Sunday, January 14.

“For the 13th consecutive year, Chevron is proud to sponsor the Houston region’s largest annual sporting event,” said Jeff Shellebarger, president, Chevron North America Exploration and Production Company. “Houston is a city of DOERS. That community spirit will be on full display from start to finish – and embodied by the thousands of runners, volunteers and spectators joining us for another world-class race.”

Throughout the years, the partnership between the HMC and Chevron has helped to achieve increased participant numbers, raised awareness for countless charitable organizations and global recognition for the City of Houston through hosting national championships and Olympic Trials races.

“Our goal is to partner with sponsors who value the same commitment to our community and who help us accomplish our mission of embodying the spirit, energy and diversity of the citizens of Houston,” said Wade Morehead, Executive Director of the HMC. “The support of Chevron, has enabled the HMC to facilitate an event with a substantial economic impact to our city, as well as raise millions for local charity organizations, all while showcasing the City of Houston on a global scale.”

Registration for the 2018 Chevron Houston Marathon is still open and on track for another sell-out year. The Aramco Houston Half Marathon has already reached capacity, however guaranteed race entries are still available through the Run for a Reason Charity Program at www.RunforaReasonHouston.com.
