The Houston Marathon Committee Welcomes Sarah Pepper Aboard

Houston’s famous female voice from the Mix 96.5 Morning Show and Houston Dash Stadium Announcer to join the HMC Race Announcer Team

Houston, TX (October 26th, 2023) – The Houston Marathon Committee announced today that local radio celebrity Sarah Pepper will join the Race Announcer Team at the start line and finish line of the Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon on January 14, 2024.

Pepper, who has completed seven Aramco Houston Half Marathons, will join long-time race announcer Whit Raymond on the start line stage and in the finish line chute to welcome and celebrate all 27,000 runners at Houston’s annual largest single-day sporting event.

“Joining the HMC team means the world to me because running has been a part of my life since I was seven years old,” stated Pepper, who also serves as the game-day announcer for the Houston Dash women’s professional soccer team. “It represents strength. It represents the celebration of our mutual abilities to push to do things previously thought to be impossible.”

Athletes and spectators will also see the popular radio personality on Saturday of race weekend, as Pepper will toe the start line for the 10th time to participate in the We Are Houston 5K presented by Aramco and Chevron with 6,000 fellow runners on Saturday, January 13, 2024. This year, Pepper will race alongside her colleague, Houston Dash mascot Diesel, as he will run his first-ever 5K race.

“We are so excited that Sarah will be joining our team as she has been a wonderful advocate and supporter of our annual weekend of events for years, and she has participated in our races for over a decade,” stated Wade Morehead, Executive Director of the Houston Marathon Committee and Foundation. “Everyone in Houston knows Sarah and hearing her fun, friendly, and familiar voice on race morning and as they cross the finish line will make their amazing feats even more special.”
