Race Day Parking & Street Closures
Plan ahead for race day with parking information, street closure details, and transportation options to help you get around downtown Houston.
Sunday Parking
Parking is available at privately owned surface lots and parking garages around the George R. Brown Convention Center and downtown area. The Chevron Houston Marathon does not control parking hours, payments, or prices. We recommend paying by credit card or the Houston parking app to ensure legitimate payment. Authorized lot attendants will not ask for cash.
In addition to the available lots and garages downtown, the Toyota Tundra Garage offers ample secure parking with easy entry and exit only three blocks from the George R. Brown Convention Center.
On Sunday race day, participants should arrive early (before 5:30 a.m.) to allow for traffic and parking. Streets comprising the start line will close at 5:30 a.m. HPD will begin closing other streets in the downtown area at 5:30 a.m.
*For spectators arriving after 8:00 a.m., we recommend parking north of Rusk for easiest access to spectator amenities.
Race Day Driving Directions
Expect traffic to be slow in and around areas impacted by the race course. Driving delays can be minimized by using alternate routes that avoid the course entirely.

- Franklin from Smith to Washington (all lanes except one westbound curb lane)
- Washington from Congress to Waugh (all lanes except one westbound curb lane from Franklin to Houston, and one eastbound curb lane from Studemont to Sawyer)
- Heights/Waugh (southbound) from Washington to West Gray
- West Gray/Inwood from Waugh to Kirby
- Kirby (northbound) from Inwood to San Felipe
- Kirby (southbound) from San Felipe to Bissonnet
- Bissonnet from Kirby to Montrose
- Mandell (southbound) from Bissonnet to Sunset
- Sunset from Mandell to Main St.
Main St. to University Blvd. - University Blvd. from Greenbriar to Weslayan

Freeway Exit Ramp Closures
- 610 West Loop, southbound, exiting to Hidalgo/Richmond
- I-69 southbound exit to Newcastle
Ride Metro
The use of public transportation is highly recommended.
Entrances 1 and 2 will be open in the Theater District Parking off Rusk and Bagby, where runners can catch the METRO to the George R. Brown Convention Center. Theater District Parking is easily accessible from Memorial Drive and the McKinney exit on 45. The METRORail Green and Purple Lines will be running continuously from approximately 4:45 a.m.
