Front Corral Seeding – Qualifying Standards

Runners may request  front corral seeding by entering a verified time with proof during the registration process, or they may add it to their participant account after registering, until the deadline listed below.

Deadline: Monday, Nov. 30, 2026

All time standards are listed below, and you must comply with the following rules.

You must add your qualifying time during registration or in your participant account.
Only the distances included below will be accepted.
Time must have been run on or after Jan. 1, 2025.
All submissions will be reviewed and verified.
Verification will be based on official chip time.
Road race times only; certified 10,000-meter or farther distance track times and Ironman.
Race must be on a USATF- or foreign equivalent-certified course with online race results.

Switching Your Race Distance (Category)

If you are registered for the marathon or half marathon, you may switch to a different race category for a fee (i.e., from the marathon to the half marathon or 5K, or from the half marathon to the marathon or 5K).  5K participants may not switch to the marathon or half marathon. All switches must be completed by the deadline listed below.*

Deadlines:

January 11, 2026 – October 31, 2026: $20, plus the difference between what you paid for the half marathon and marathon, if switching up
November 1, 2026 – January 6, 2027 at 12:00 p.m. CT: $40, plus the difference between what you paid for the half marathon and marathon, if switching up

Instructions: Log in to your participant account, select the registration options on the bottom right of the screen, select “Switch Categories” and complete the process.

*If a participant does not switch their race by the deadline and runs a different race than what they are registered for on race day, their results will be ineligible to be scored.

Houston Double

Participants can complete the 2027 Houston Double challenge by finishing the We Are Houston 5K presented by Aramco and Chevron and the Chevron Houston Marathon or Aramco Houston Half Marathon over race weekend! All runners who finish the 2027 We Are Houston 5K and the Chevron Houston Marathon or Aramco Houston Half Marathon will get THREE finisher medals on Sunday at the 2027 races!

How to register for the We Are Houston 5K presented by Aramco and Chevron:

Register for the We Are Houston 5K at the same time as you complete your Marathon or Half Marathon online registration for $40, or
Sign up for the 5K separately at the current 5K registration price

FAQs

When is the race?

The Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2027.

The We Are Houston 5K presented by Aramco and Chevron will take place on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2027.

Entry Requirements / Age Restrictions

Participants must be at least 12 years old on race day to register for the marathon and 7 years old on race day to register for the half marathon. Participants must be at least 7 years old on race day to register for the 5K.

Are there refunds for cancellations?

The option to purchase refundable registration is only available during the application/registration process.

If a participant did not purchase refund protection during registration they will be able to purchase it inside their registration in their participant account up to 5 days after they completed registration.

Otherwise, All Houston Marathon Committee event fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. In the event you are unable to participate, for any reason, you will not receive a refund.

Can I transfer my bib to another person?

No, the Houston Marathon does not allow the transfer of registrations.

Registered runners who give their bib to another person and the person to whom the bib is given will be disqualified and prohibited from participating in subsequent Houston Marathon events for a minimum of two years.

Do you offer a military discounted registration fee?

Yes. Military discounts are available for active and retired U.S. military personnel. This offer is not available for dependents. Please email the Houston Marathon Committee prior to registering at marathon@houstonmarathon.com for additional information.

Discounts will be offered to Marathon and Half Marathon participants only.

The Houston Marathon Committee will not issue refunds for the military discount once you have registered.

When is Packet Pick-Up?

The Houston Marathon Health & Fitness EXPO presented by Houston Methodist is home to Packet Pick-Up for all Chevron Houston Marathon, Aramco Houston Half Marathon, We Are Houston 5K, and Run for a Reason participants – and is FREE and open to the public. So bring your friends and family to join in the fun!

Friday, Jan. 9 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 10, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Each participant will receive a final confirmation for packet pick-up sent via email (if you provided a valid email address during registration). You will need to bring a government-issued photo ID and an electronic or printed copy of your confirmation to the EXPO to pick up your packet. A photo ID is not required for children 17 and under. There is no packet pick-up on the morning of the Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon. If you do not pick up your packet at the EXPO, you will not be able to run in your race. Packets will NOT be mailed.

Can I use my Chevron Houston Marathon time to qualify for the Boston Marathon?

Yes! The Boston Marathon accepts qualifying times from the Chevron Houston Marathon. Qualifying times for the Boston Marathon vary by age group — available on their website. The Houston Marathon Committee will send a complete list of finishers to the BAA about a week after the race.
