The Houston Marathon Committee (HMC) is searching for influential runners across the Greater Houston region to represent the 2027 Chevron Houston Marathon, Aramco Houston Half Marathon and We Are Houston 5K as #RunHou Ambassadors!
As a #RunHou Ambassador you will:
- Be a local expert on the Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon, familiarizing yourself with info, resources, and media guidelines provided
- Spread awareness of HMC events amongst your running community via social media and in-person connection with other runners and serve as a spokesperson for HMC by sharing event info and answering questions
- Follow and interact with the Chevron Houston Marathon on social media channels to help increase visibility of HMC event info
- Support HMC marketing staff in creating informative, engaging, and/or trending-style content for Chevron Houston Marathon social channels
- Post or re-share approved HMC-related content on personal Instagram, Facebook, X, and/or TikTok accounts at least 1x per month during ambassadorship
- Engage in one pre-planned “Tuesday Takeover” of the Chevron Houston Marathon Instagram account during ambassadorship
- Support collateral distribution in your neighborhood (at local races, running stores, running club meetups, etc.)
- Attend and staff community-facing HMC events during marathon training season and race week such as The Houston Marathon Training Kickoff Party in September, Houston Marathon Super Aid Station training activations hosted on 3-4 Saturdays per year, pre-race Shakeout Runs, and the race weekend EXPO (ambassadors typically staff the HMC info booth and engage with community members at these events)
- Engage with Houston Marathon sponsors and partners in-person at HMC events and online through pre-approved social media mentions
- Provide race weekend support – must provide a minimum of four hours of customer service at the HMC Booth at the EXPO on Friday and Saturday of race weekend
- Attend scheduled meetings in-person or by phone to stay informed, share ideas, and help plan content, and maintain timely communication with HMC marketing staff about Ambassador duties
This is a volunteer role but includes the following perks:
- Complimentary registration for the 2027 Chevron Houston Marathon or Aramco Houston Half Marathon and We Are Houston 5K presented by Aramco and Chevron

- Featured in Chevron Houston Marathon social media content and publications, and opportunities to participate in race-related media appearances
- Connection with other ambassadors and runners – meet new people and grow your network!
It is expected that #RunHou Ambassadors:
- Will consent to a background check prior to final selection
- Will have or create a public Instagram account at minimum (other accounts including Facebook, X, TikTok, or YouTube are encouraged but not required)
- Will not offer influencer support for any other marathon or half marathon event within 6 months of the Houston Marathon Weekend of Events
- Will not promote any other events, products, brands, businesses or charities outside of Chevron Houston Marathon Run for a Reason charity partners in content created for HMC channels or while representing HMC at events/media appearances (this includes providing affiliate links and discount codes)
- Will abide by a code of conduct to represent HMC, HMC Events, and all event sponsors positively and professionally
