ABB Team Challenge
Registered participants in the 2011 Chevron Houston Marathon, Aramco Houston Half Marathon and EP5K may register teams to compete against one another in the 2011 ABB Team Challenge.

Switching Races
Once you are registered for the marathon or half marathon, you may switch to a different distance race (i.e. from the marathon to the half marathon or 5K, or from the half marathon to the marathon or 5K). Participants in the 5K may not switch up to the marathon or half marathon. Participants who switch races will be charged $10, plus an additional $20 for participants who would like to switch up from the half marathon to the marathon.

Important Switching Information
Any participant who runs a race other than the one he/she is registered for will not be scored. It is imperative that the registration data associated with your race number does in fact belong to you, the participant. If the Houston Marathon Committee becomes aware that a runner has participated in one of our events with a bib that is not registered to that runner, both the runner and the person to whom the bib is registered will be prohibited from participating in subsequent Houston Marathon Committee events for a minimum of two years. 2012 Deferment
The Houston Marathon Committee does not offer registration refunds.
New to 2011: If a registered marathon or half marathon participant is unable to participate in 2011, for any reason, the participant may fill out a form online indicating they will not participate in 2011 and would like to guarantee a registration entry for 2012. Once the form has been submitted participants will have canceled their 2011 entry and guaranteed themselves a space in the 2012 race of their choice. Participants will not receive a refund for 2011 and will be required to pay for their entry in 2012.

The Houston Marathon Committee is offering a limited number of VIP packages to give runners a unique opportunity to run with the elite athletes competing in the 2011 USA Half Marathon Championships on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. To be eligible to purchase these packages, runners must be able to complete a half marathon under a 2.5-hour time limit. 2. Fundraising for Registration
The Fundraising for Registration program gives runners an opportunity to fundraise for an official Run for a Reason charity of their choice and receive an entry into the marathon or half marathon. This program eliminates any upfront, out-of-pocket costs associated with entering the race. Runners must contact participating charities directly for details as each organization sets its own fundraising minimum, guidelines and deadlines.

Minimum Two-Year Event Ban for Unauthorized Runners
Our races have been marred by numerous participants running under the guise of someone else's race number. While this may seem harmless to the parties perpetrating the unauthorized bib transfer, it does convey serious consequences to the organizers and participant field alike.
From race results to finishers' awards being impacted as well as medical staff being able to correctly identify participants in need of treatment, it is imperative that the registration data associated with your race number does in fact belong to you, the participant.
If race organizers become aware that a runner has participated in one of our events with a bib that is not registered to that runner, both the runner and the person to whom the bib is registered will be prohibited from participating in subsequent Houston Marathon events for a minimum of two years.
