Dr. Mark Adickes

Orthopedic Surgeon
Co-Medical Director, Roger Clemens Institute for Sports Medicine & Human Performance at Memorial Hermann

Dr. Adickes specializes in sports medicine at the Roger Clemens Institute for Sports Medicine & Human Performance at Memorial Hermann. Prior to joining the Roger Clemens Institute, Dr. Adickes completed his sports medicine fellowship under the tutelage of Richard Steadman, M.D., of the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colo. Dr. Adickes completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. In 2000, he earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass.

Dr. Adickes’ career in medicine follows a remarkable decade-long career in the National Football League, during which he was a member of the 1991 Super Bowl Championship Washington Redskins. An alumnus of Baylor University, Dr. Adickes was inducted into the Baylor Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.

Dr. Adickes considered a career in medicine after suffering a near career-ending injury in the NFL. His physician and physical therapist mended his injury, allowing him to return to the game. This experience sparked an interest in medicine, especially orthopedics. That interest was further enhanced by his relationship with Roy Smythe, a Baylor teammate who left football to become a doctor; Pete Egoscue, a physical therapist who eased many of his sports injuries; and his wife Jackie, who encouraged him to pursue a career in medicine.

Dr. Adickes serves as team physician for the Houston Rockets, , Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and St. Thomas University.
