The Houston-Athens Marathon Exchange is the only program of its type in the United States. Each year, the program sends one male and one female finisher of the Chevron Houston Marathon to Greece for a week and provides them with entry into the Athens Classic Marathon. The winners are determined by a random drawing of male and female finishers from the Houston area who have completed the Chevron Houston Marathon in four hours or less.
Congratulations to our 2013 winners Amber Swan & Ben Stamets!
Friends, family and other runners who wish to participate in the trip are invited to do so. Information on the cost of the trip, an itinerary and information about the Athens Classic Marathon can be found below.
The Houston-Athens Exchange also sponsors an annual Greek Pastichio dinner to support the program. More information can be found below.
This is the same trip that two runners from the Chevron Houston Marathon were awarded as prizes in the random drawing for finishing the marathon in January 2012 in four hours or less. All are welcome to join the two winners of the 2012 prize.
The group will depart on Wednesday, November 7 and return on Tuesday, November 13. The total land cost (excluding airfare) is $1,695 per person based on double occupancy or $1,950 per person based on single occupancy. Exact airfare cost will be determined at a later date and should not likely be more than $1,000 or you may use your own air mileage.

Since the beginning of the Houston-Athens Marathon Exchange, volunteers have sponsored an annual pastichio or Greek pasta dinner on the Thursday night prior to the Houston Marathon. Admission to the dinner, which includes one complimentary beverage is $25 in advance or $30 at the door, and $10 for children under 12.
