Delalecha recorded personal bests in both the marathon and half-marathon in 2011 after deciding in the summer of 2010 to quit her job and focus fully on her sport. The decision appears to be paying big dividends. She posted 2011 wins in both the Pittsburgh and Grandma’s Marathons and took top honors in two of the three half-marathon’s she ran. Her 18th place at the NYC Half-Marathon was an atypical outing for Delelecha who got her start running cross country for Ethiopia.
