As Houston Marathon Committee staff, we don’t get the opportunity to be out there on the course running with you on race day – but that doesn’t mean we don’t like to run when we get the chance!

This past Saturday, our registration manager Erin McGowan ran in the third annual “4 the Park” 4K benefiting the Memorial Park Conservancy on April 2. Did anyone see her running? We posted on Facebook and Twitter (click the links to follow us!) that she would be wearing our red “Run for a Reason” shirt.

“I love running at Memorial Park and being able to support a great cause,” Erin said. “Jogging at one of my favorite places in Houston was just a bonus.  Even though it was muggy, the race was fun and the vendors, volunteers and organizers made it a great way to start a Saturday.”

Fellow HMC staff Amanda, Kimberly, Lauren and Zaneta were there as well, along with Houston Marathon Foundation liaison Allyson Walker, who passed out info about the Foundation and fun freebies – shoe tags for runners to write their contact info on in case of an emergency.

With the mission of promoting running as part of a healthy lifestyle in the Houston community, the Houston Marathon Foundation was proud to sponsor the Kids K race that weekend. We were honored and excited to be part of such a fun event for everyone involved!

Here she is at the finish line with her friend Tristan – way to go Erin!
