Breaking three hours in the marathon is a big deal for anyone. I remember what it is like to accomplish that life milestone and would love to be a part of other people’s journeys as well!

Doing all the effort but to support others instead of just for yourself is a super rewarding experience.

I get the opportunity to connect with different people in the group to get familiar with the running community. My goal is to help others to get their PR for BQ.

Succeeding in doing things that are challenging extends beyond the challenge itself. It produces a confidence that permeates a person’s life and helps them to attempt and conquer things they might not otherwise attempt. A community full of confident people produces a highly successful city.

Being a Pace Team Member is always an opportunity to help runners have a great race experience and achieve their goal time by giving words of encouragement and helping them keep well controlled, comfortable pace throughout the race.

I had the opportunity to pace it last year and just loved the experience! I loved helping people achieve their goals and I can’t wait to do it again for 2024!

Marathons are a great way to bring a community together, and the Houston marathon does a terrific job at that. In order to keep a marathon popular for both the local and national running communities, it needs a robust set of pacers. While the workers and volunteers are the backbone of any marathon, the pacers are (excuse the pun) it’s legs.
