Early registration opens on Jan. 17 at 3:00 pm CT and closes on Jan. 21 or earlier if 10,000 entries are sold. Registration is open to all runners.
Guaranteed Entry Registration – May 5, 2016 – May 31, 2016
Registration opens for runners that qualify for or purchase a guaranteed entry.
Entries include: Deferrals, Legacy Runners, 5-9 year Finishers, Time Qualifiers and HERO charity entries – See below for guaranteed entry categories

Registration Entry Fees:
Chevron Houston Marathon – $135
GUARANTEED ENTRY CATEGORIES: The following describes the categories that allow a runner to register during the guaranteed entry period in May and secure their spot into the 2017 events.
Runners may register for a guaranteed entry, during the May registration period, in either the marathon or half marathon races, if they have a qualifying time. All time standards are listed below and must comply with the following rules.
- Runners may use an official marathon, half marathon or 10K qualifying time
- Finisher times must have been run since January 1, 2015.
- All qualifying times are subject to review and verification. To add a qualifying time to your previously completed registration or to update your qualifying race time on a previously completed registration, please click here.
- All time standards based on official submitted net time.
- All qualifying times must be completed in a road race (track times and triathlon times will not be accepted).
- Qualifying races must be a USATF or (foreign equivalent) certified course and provide online race results.
- Runners may register for either the marathon or half marathon races with a marathon, half marathon or 10K qualifying time.
- The age graded time qualification guarantees an entry during early registration.
- In addition to early registration, all participants interested in a Corral “A” assignment must also complete the Corral “A” application section on their registration form to be considered for preferential seeding.
- Qualifying times are based upon each athlete’s age on the date of the Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon in which they are participating.

5+ Houston Marathon Finishes:
Runners who have completed 5 or more Houston Marathons qualify to register for a guaranteed marathon entry during the guaranteed entry period in May. Guaranteed entry is eligible for the marathon only.
5+ Houston Half Marathon Finishes:
Runners who have completed 5 or more Houston Half Marathons qualify to register for a guaranteed half marathon entry during the guaranteed entry period in May. Guaranteed entry is eligible for the half marathon only.
Marathon or Half Marathon Legacy:
Runners who have completed 10+ Houston Marathons or 10+ Half Marathons exclusively qualify to register for a guaranteed entry in either the marathon or half marathon until November 1, 2016.
Deferred 2017 Registrants:
Runners who officially deferred their 2016 race registration qualify to register for a guaranteed entry in either the marathon or half marathon during the guaranteed entry period in May. If you do not register during this period, you will be required to register during open registration beginning June 1. No code is required.
Members Designated by HARRA:
HARRA has a limited number of guaranteed entries available to be used during the guaranteed entry period in May. Please contact HARRA directly to inquire about these race entries (marathon entries only)
HERO Charity Registrants:
A HERO entry is a charity registration that secures your entry into the 2017 events. A HERO entry includes a one time $350 tax-deductible donation (plus the marathon or half marathon registration entry fee) to one of the official Run for a Reason charities. HERO runners receive a guaranteed entry, custom back bib, tech cap, pass for pre-race private indoor restrooms, and much more!
Registration Changes and Updates
Once you have registered for the 2017 Chevron Houston Marathon or Aramco Houston Half Marathon you may make changes to your registration including switching your race between the marathon and half marathon or down to the 5K, updating information on your registration form and deferring your entry to the next year if you are unable to participate.

2017 5K Registration Information
ABB 5K registration is available during early (January) and guaranteed (May) registration for the marathon and half marathon as an “add-on” option. ABB 5K stand-alone registration will be available beginning June 1.

All runners who finish the 2016 ABB 5K and Chevron Houston Marathon or Aramco Houston Half Marathon will get THREE finisher medals!
Number of Participants
The 2017 Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon has a protected cap of 27,000 participants. Of the 27,000-participant field, 13,500 entries are reserved for the marathon and 13,500 for the half marathon.
The 2017 ABB 5K has a cap of 6,000 participants.
The time limit for completing the marathon is six hours and the course will open on a rolling schedule based on a 13:45 per mile pace.
The time limit for completing the half marathon is four hours. Since the marathon and half marathon share part of the course on race day, the half marathon course will open on a rolling schedule based on a 13:45 per mile pace for the first 8-9 miles. The remaining miles must be completed within the final 2 hours of the time limit.
The time limit for completing the 5K is 1 1/2 hours.
Participants must be at least 12 years old on race day to register for the marathon and 7 years old on race day to register for the half marathon.
Participants must be at least 7 years old on race day to register for 5K.
