We Run Houston<\/strong> is a 12-20 week program where schools host an after-school running club in affiliation with the Houston Marathon Foundation. Students train for a 5K and\/or Half Marathon in a safe, after-school environment. In January, all students in good standing will have the opportunity to run the We Are Houston 5K or the Aramco Houston Half Marathon.<\/p>\n As a coach with this program, you are responsible for preparing your students for one of the race distances. As a coach, you are responsible for deciding if the student is prepared to run the race they originally chose. At the beginning of the program, you must be prepared with a training regimen, an organized practice schedule, and a review of the program for your students. This scholarship is awarded to students who exemplify leadership, generosity, and volunteer spirit in their everyday life.<\/p>\n This scholarship is offered each year to graduating high school students attending a US college or university. This scholarship is based on participation in high school cross country, a student who shows a love of running and community, and exemplary performance in school. The scholarship is offered annually to three students graduating from the Greater Houston Area* each year, $2,500 a year\/ $10,000 over four years.<\/p>\n *The Greater Houston Area is recognized as these 9 Houston Counties: Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, and Waller.<\/p>\n 2027 HMF Scholarship applications are now open!
