The health and wellbeing of all participants leading up to and throughout race weekend is our top priority to ensure a successful weekend for all. Our team is working closely with city health and safety officials including the Mayor’s Office and the Houston Department of Public Health, and we will be adhering to our local city’s guidelines regarding all COVID-19 protocols throughout race weekend.

HMC MITIGATION EFFORTS

  • Face coverings are strongly encouraged for all attendees at indoor event venues and at outdoor event venues where appropriate distance is unable to be maintained.
  • The George R. Brown Convention Center has implemented a state-of-the-art air filtration system throughout the building and also has placed additional room filters into event spaces.
  • All runners are required to sign up for a packet pick-up time – this will help disperse traffic flow and alleviate wait times and congestion. Emails will send next week for sign-ups
  • There is no EXPO stage with speakers – again to eliminate any stopping and standing in one area for prolonged periods
  • EXPO vendors will be spaced out at a greater distance and primary aisles have been increased significantly to encourage social distancing
  • The Start Line has added a corral to create more room for runners to social distance prior to the start of the race
  • Masks will be available in all areas and handed out by volunteers
  • Masks will be handed out to all runners at the finish line to re-enter GRB
  • All post-race services encourage movement through all stages with grab and go breakfast options. RunFest will include tables for runners to eat outside.

    • If you develop symptoms get a test and stay home.
  • If you completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine over 6 months ago and are not boosted OR completed the primary series of J&J over 2 months ago and are not boosted OR are unvaccinated
