Nathan Schaffer – Manager, Venue Operations
Nathan Schaffer joined the Houston Marathon Committee in August of 2016. As the manager, venue operations he is responsible for pre- and post-race participants services areas in the George R. Brown Convention Center and he designs and oversees the security perimeter.
Prior to joining the HMC, Schaffer worked as a committee member for the Eau Claire Marathon from 2014-2016. He developed an experience on the UW-Eau Claire campus called ‘The Blugold Mile’ at mile 23.5 of the EC Marathon bringing out 1,000+ students and multiple bands to cheer for runners and assisted with course development, acted as a course marshal and assisted with the Expo. He also was a part of the Chicago Marathon elite athlete pace clock team in 2015 and 2016.
Schaffer graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire in December 2015 with a bachelors in economics and geography. Nathan has completed 11 marathon, including the 2013 and 2014 Boston Marathon, and has a personal best of 2:58:28.
