Ally Walker – Senior Manager, HMF Community Development
Ally Walker joined the Houston Marathon Foundation in October of 2010. She helped build the foundation from its inception to an organization that has now reinvested over $1 million dollars back into the greater Houston running community. Walker was also instrumental in creating the Susan Poorman Blackie Scholarship program in honor of long-time board member Susan Poorman Blackie, has helped grow the We Run Houston After School Running Program to include more than 500 students annually and created the Texas Children’s Hospital Family Fun Run in partnership with Texas Children’s Hospital. She also manages HMF strategic growth to support U.S. Elite Athlete Development.
Prior to joining the HMF, Walker worked as a Vice President with American Heart Association, overseeing marathon training programs throughout the state of California, was the Director of Development for a California non-profit that worked with individuals with disabilibities for job training and building technology skills and worked with LLS on Team in Training in Texas and California. She has raised over $10 million for non-profits throughout her career.
Walker graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies, Sport and Entertainment Management from the University of South Carolina in 2003. She is the mother of three adorable children – Zachary, Braden and Holland.
