2010 Race Registration, Cap Increase & Entry Fees
Race registration for the 2010 Chevron Houston Marathon, Aramco Houston Half Marathon, EP5K and ABB Team Challenge opens on the morning of Friday, July 17, 2009 at 12:01 a.m. (CST).
The marathon and half marathon will raise the combined cap from 18,000 to 22,000 participants. Of the 22,000 entries, 11,000 entries will now be reserved for each of the marathon and half marathon participants. In addition to the cap increase, we have eliminated the Transfer System and added a two-year ban for unauthorized runners. We believe these changes, in addition to our start waves, will alleviate crowding concerns as the safety of our runners is our top priority.
There will be no entry fee increase to our 2010 races. Click here for the 2010 entry fee schedule.
Race Transfer System Eliminated
Registrants in our 2010 races will not be able to transfer their entry to another participant, nor will the marathon office buy back a registrant's entry if he/she is unable to participate for whatever reason. The substantial participant cap increase to the marathon and half marathon field will more than offset any inconveniences caused by the elimination of the Transfer System.
Two-Year Event Ban for Unauthorized Runners
Our 2009 race was marred by numerous participants running under the guise of someone else's race number. While this may seem harmless to the parties perpetrating the unauthorized bib transfer, it does convey serious consequences to the organizers and participant field alike.
From race results to finishers' awards being impacted as well as medical staff being able to correctly identify participants in need of treatment, it is imperative that the registration data associated with your race number does in fact belong to you, the participant. Should we be made aware that this is not the case, we will not allow both parties involved in the unauthorized transfer entry into our event for a minimum of two years.
