A seasoned marathoner, Abera is coming off a year that saw her finish in the top three at three international marathons. She started the year with a second place finish last January in China, took third this spring in Daegu despite notching a career best 2:26:33 and then stood atop the podium with her 2:27:56 in Istanbul this past spring.

Familiar with running here in Houston, she took 3rd place in the marathon here last year with a time of 2:31:01.
