Crossing the finish line of the Chevron Houston Marathon, Aramco Houston Half Marathon or El Paso 5K is a well-deserved reward for the hard work runners endure while training for their race. By participating in the Chevron Houston Marathon's Run for a Reason charity program, that hard work does more than get runners to the finish line; it offers help and hope to the thousands of people who benefit from the charities in this program.
The program is simple. Both participants and non-participants are welcome to become donors and/or fundraisers for one of this year's official Run for a Reason charities. With new organizations added and 50+ charities to choose from, there is sure to be a cause that you are passionate about! As a fundraiser, you can customize your own personal online fundraising page, request support from your friends and family via email, and track your progress instantly.
The success of our Run for a Reason program continues to grow as more runners learn about the opportunity to raise money for non-profit organizations. Through its 17-year history, the Run for a Reason program has raised more than $14 million for charity. Because of dedicated fundraisers, the 2011-2012 Run for a Reason program raised a record $2.3 million for 57 charities. Prizes are awarded to the top fundraisers and top charities based on total number of dollars raised.
We encourage everyone to make this race count by raising money for one of the official charities of the Chevron Houston Marathon, Aramco Houston Half Marathon, EP5K and ABB Team Challenge. At the end of the day, you can take pride in your accomplishment - and in knowing that your efforts have helped thousands of others.
