All transferred registrations will be purchased through the Houston Marathon Committee. Below is the process to receive a registration via transfer:
1 - Fill out the
wait list form. By filling out this form, you will be added to our wait list and assigned a wait list number.
Registration to be on the wait list is FREE. Please note that because we do not know how many registered participants will wish to transfer their registrations, we cannot guarantee that everyone on the wait list will receive a registration.
2 - If you have a friend who wants to transfer his or her registration to you, make sure you indicate that person's name where appropriate on the wait list form and that the person specifies you as the recipient of his or her registration on the transfer request form. You still need to fill out the wait list form in order to receive the registration.
3 - When a registration becomes available to you, either because you have reached the top of the waiting list or were specified as the recipient on a transfer request form, you will receive an email with a link to an online registration form.
4 - You must complete the online registration form by the deadline indicated in your confirmation email in order to receive the transferred registration. You will be charged the current price of the race for which you are registering plus a fee of $20. Note that if you do not complete the form by the indicated deadline, you will NOT receive the transferred registration and will NOT be eligible to run.

Already registered and want to transfer your registration to someone else?All transferred registrations will be purchased through the Houston Marathon Committee. Below is the process to transfer your registration to another person:
1 - Fill out a
transfer request form. You must submit this form by
November 20, 2008.
2 - On the transfer request form, you may specify the person whom you wish to receive the transferred registration. However, this is not mandatory. If you do not specify the person you wish to receive your registration, your registration will be assigned to the first person on our waiting list.
3 - If your registration is transferred, you will refund of your registration fee.
If your registration is transferred by August 31, 2008 you will receive a FULL refund of your original registration fee. If you transfer your registration September 1 through November 20, Marathon participants will receive a refund of $65 and half marathon participants will receive a refund of $40. We cannot guarantee that everyone who submits a transfer request form will be able to transfer his or her registration.
- If you request to transfer your registration but it is not taken by someone on our waiting list, you will NOT receive your partial refund. If this happens, however, you will still be eligible to participate in the race for which you are registered.
- You will receive your refund in the form of a credit on the credit card with which you registered. The credit will be listed from Active.com on your credit card statement.
4 - You will be notified via email when your registration is transferred.
